Currently, if you click on the small caps button in InDesign (at least), it will enable the OT small caps, if present. Otherwise it fakes it. I think the same is true of superscripts, subscripts and …2 -

The way FontForge displays hints seems very strange. I don't understand what those varying heights and widths are indicating (if anything). PostScript hints are usually shown in font editors as bands…1 -
